Dear Big Blue Family,
As many of you are aware, Naomi Short is a 3rd grader at Crawford Woods Elementary. Recently Naomi was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. The type of cancer she has is called Pineoblastoma. She was admitted to the hospital in mid-September. Naomi has undergone several operations, the most recent one being a brain surgery where they removed a tumor from the top of her spinal cord. Since the surgery she has been struggling with short term memory, moving her eyes, and her vision is blurry. None the less, Naomi is committed to making a full recovery and returning to school. Naomi will receive 6 weeks of radiation therapy, five days a week. She will then go on for another six months of chemotherapy.
As one can imagine, the medical bills, as well as regular household bills, are piling up quickly for the Short family. This is where the Big Blue Community is stepping in. Beginning this week (and in conjunction with Giving Tuesday), many local businesses (see below) will be donating a portion of their sales to Naomi's family. In addition, a Go Fund Me page has been created on behalf of the Short family.
We would like to thank everyone for their support of the Short family. It is a true testament to the character of The City of Hamilton and its community members.
