At Garfield Middle School the 7th grade football team is making history! Last year our 7th grade team (graduating class of 2026) went undefeated with a record of 8-0. This year’s 7th grade team (graduating class of 2027) has picked up where last year’s team left off and have so far gone 4-0, taking the W over Lakota Liberty, Colerain, Middletown, and Lakota Ridge. Last year was the first time ever in Garfield history since it’s been a middle school that any football team has had an undefeated season and this year’s team is keeping the streak alive. There is a positive impact being made within the program and it is further proving that the merger between Garfield Middle School and Wilson Middle School (together referred to as Hamilton Middle School) has been a great success.
Garfield’s own School Resource Officer, Officer Wilson, helps to lead this group of young men. Because Officer Wilson is able to be a presence within GMS on a daily basis, this helps to create an easy transition when working with our football team on the field.
A few young men on the 7th grade team this year had some input regarding their season. They expressed that they had to start from scratch this year, completely rebuilding their offense and defense. In addition, they mentioned that they have grown a lot as a team throughout the season, particularly regarding leadership, confidence, and impacting others by being positive role models. They attribute a lot of their success to their coaches who have helped them get to where they are now and how they have truly rallied everybody together. They’re very hopeful that they will continue to keep the streak alive in the weeks to come.
We are Hamilton Proud! #YeahI’mAGriffin
